Verizon Installer Issues

My family has Verizon Fios and our internet connection is fully operational. However recently a problem has begun to occur where upon logging into any of the computers accounts an error message from Verizon appears. The task window is entitled “Internet Explorer Script Error” and reads…

An error has occurred in the script on this page.

No matter which selection made the screen remains frozen indefinitely on loading page that says something along the lines of “Please wait while Verizon installs your updates” the only way I have found to remedy the problem is to manually end the “update” by way of the task manager.

Are these legitimate Verizon installations that are malfunctioning due to intervention on our part (Our firewall detected something entitled “uninstall.exe” attempting to run on some Verizon component which we allowed to block)?

Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

 

We own a 2002 Windows XP Media Center Addition. With Service Pack 2.

The link provide looked helpful however I'm a little weary of removing Web Customization on the Verizon folder as it is our current provider.

One other piece of info that might help, we used to have a Verizon DSL package, but we upgraded to FIOS. Is there any quick way to seek out and delete old unnecessary Verizon software (Their website wasn't much help).
