A PC brand new from HP, a Pavilion Media Center PC out of the box when trying to connect to the Westell Wirespeed modem provided by Verizon Online by dial in will freeze up the computer.

Has anybody seen this happen before, and if so is there a reason why this would happen ?

Big question is, DID You use the Verizon Software? If the answer is YES, it should be NO, due to XP can do PPPoE out of the box. Also, is the modem hooked up by USB or Ethernet? Can you even hook the modem up via Ethernet?

Only thing that could cause freezing, would be software from the ISP, bad driver, or too many tasks running at the same time.
