Good morning Geeks, I'm running XP Home SP3 with an NVidia 5200 video card.
I have a very large video file, 11.3GB, and both the video and audio play jerky. I've tried it on KMPlayer, WMP and MPC Home Cinema. The file type is .mkv.

I am sure that the file size is the issue, so is there anyway to maybe increase advance caching or accelerate the video file so that it plays better?

MKV on a 5200 video card is not going to work well.

I was always a fan of KMP but it has not kept up with the newest video encoding and has more and more trouble with HD video.

BSplayer is slightly easier on resources. I think the free version may have some kind of adware (you have to watch a commercial or something--I don't remember). It might be worth a try but probably not that much different on resources than MPC.

Why is the file so large? Very long video? Is it worth trying to re-encode to a more standard XviD avi?

Thanks for the lead, I tested BS Player and it did not work well either. But I like the fact that I was allowed to NOT associated the player with existing files, and I like the codec manager check that downloaded "missing" codecs locally so as not to effect my other player. I will work with BS Player a while longer.

The file is large because its a blueray quality video. I already own the standard DVD, this was just a test of my system quality so its not worth recoding or keeping.
