VERY slow IE 6.0

System: HP Pavillion Desktop P4 512MB RAM. Windows XP SP2.
Broadband connection at 5 Mbps. Cable techs have checked system all the way to my computer so it seems to be inside. I am a recent convert to cable from DSL. I was using MSN through the local tele. company's access software. I now am using IE ver 6.0 and am back to 28K dial up speed. I have cleared all the cookies/caches, turned off my Norton firewall/anti virus software and used my Lavasoft ver 1.05 spyware cleaner to no avail. If anything, the browser is slower. This page took 2.5 minutes to load. I tried downloading new spyware cleaner and the window said something like 2,143 minutes.....

Yeah, that's what they told me for two months, until we got them to put me on a different uplink ....if you have a laptop ....connect at the first connection coming into the house ...see if it is still bad ....if not its you ...if so ...they need to come out with a laptop and see for themselves.
