Hello, Ive been having a problem with my internet...Well yes i admit i am a partial nerd :cool so i do like to play games, such as WoW (world of warcraft). Recently...When ive been playing..ive been Having HUGE amounts of lag..and theres no explanation, its not the servers or everyone would be complaining...I have no other programs running other than avast, and thats not the problem.. I have cable, but i have vonage, which for those of you who dont know, its an Phone service that goes through your cable modem, but ive never had a lagging problem with it before. Now the lag isnt like its frozen lag, like i can see what everyone else is doing fine, just that im being horribly delayed. My internet, (Mozila firefox) works perfectly fine if im using it before i start WoW, but if i just exit out of wow and go on mozila, it lag pretty bad for bout 10 min, then goes back to normal...I have no idea whats causing this...=\ any help would be GREATLY appreciated

do you have any 3rd party mods that you run with WOW? maybe one of them has a trojan or malware or something.. maybe try a fresh install of world or warcraft and see if it does the same thing, with out any add ons. if it works normal all the time except for when you play wow that would make sense. maybe run some spy and ad ware scans, visrus scans, set your temp internet file cache to 50 megs, and goto options and set it to delete all temp internet files when the browser is closed.. dunno if that will work but just a suggestion that might

you could also ping the WOW servers and see which one is the quickest for you

Yes but this happened all of a sudden, like i usually will have 90 ms not 10000ms, I doubt its a mod...I disabled all but proximo...And i really dont want to go through the painstaking task of reinstalling wow...thats what all WoW players fear the most =\

How full is your hard drive? Sounds weird but I recently clean up my pc and WoW sped right up for me. I now also stop a lot of programs running in the background and system tray before I log on and it seems to be working fine again.

Also you can disable the addons in the login screen, in the bottom left corner there should be a manage addons button, in there you can just untick all, then try and run without them, see if that helps, it could be the one of the many updates they have done has pushed your machine over the edge and a Ram upgrade may be required.

Not saying I know much but I play Guild Wars and I was on a perfect connection till infected with a Trojan. And then my ping monitor (while infected) looked the same as yours. Do you notice heavy hard drive action when not doing anything? I would suggest to do a Safe Mode Scan for viruses. Maybe a Malware scanner as well.
