Very Strange Rome Total War Prob.

when ever i try to start rome total war i get this box saying
rome total way has detected an emulation something and that i need to disable this to play the game

i have no idea what this is
i am not using a burned cd or any thing like that
i downloaded the 1.1 then the 1.2 patch used them..no help
i have Nero...is this the problem??

Some games are programmed to not run and/or install if they detect emulation software or virtual drives in the belief that it will help prevent piracy.

Programs like CloneCD, Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools etc all install virtual drives by default, so make sure you remove them and only have physical drives connected.

 

Not sure that it's your Nero software that's the problem, but suspect it might be. Do you have a Nero icon in your system tray that loads automatically at startup? If so, try disabling it using msconfig:

Go to the start button and click on "Run" and type in "msconfig" [without the quotes] and then click the OK button.

When the msconfig tool opens click on the tab at the far right at the top labelled "Startup". Look for the item in the list of startup programs with the name NeroBurn and uncheck the box in front of it. Then click the "Apply" button and then the "OK" button.

Then reboot and check to see that the Nero icon no longer appears in your system tray. If it's gone then try running your game and see what happens. Don't worry about unchecking the NeroBurn item as you can always run msconfig again and recheck the box if you wish to have it run automatically at startup again.

..well clone cd is the prob..removed it and it workes, and i don't even have the wierd flickering anymore.

I still got clone cd download file somewhere, so i can just install it when i am done.

Glad it's sorted Matt.

Just for your information, you can still re-install CloneCD immediately, just don't install a virtual drive using the defaults.

Another suggestion I might make is to not select U.S if it gives you that option as it doesn't have as many features as selecting another country.
