    Microsoft Registry Cleaner

I Had A Problem With Outlook After Downloading All The Office Updates. It Stucks When I Enter An Email With Any Attachments, Never Matter How Big It Is. So I Unistalled And Installed Again Office Tens Of Times To Correct This Problem, But Nothing Happened. My Computer-technician Told Me To Download Microsoft Cleaner, After Uninstalling First Outlook (all Office). I Entered Your Site From Google And I Downloaded From Your Site 1. I Waited From Morning Till Night And It Stayed In The Same Place After Passing Some Steps. I Downloaded From Site 4 Today And It Stayed At The Same Place. Why ? How Many Hours Do I Have To Wait ? Does It Work Or Do You Have A Problem ? I Do Not Want To Format C:/ Because I Also Work At Home ! Please Help Me As Fast As You Can !!!!!! Thanx !

    So was I ;)

You could still clean the registry as it doesnt hurt to keep the registry free from missing/non-existant keys.

Do you have Office 2003 fully upto date with all updates?

These are the steps for Office 2003 and Alternate User Inputs which can freeze or slowdown the opening of emails with attachments... you will need to follow the instructions exactly.

Do emails without attachments open OK?

thank you very much for your help !

yes, it only opens emails without attachments but sometimes it hangs when sending / receiving, when it opens.

i do not understand why i have to go to this microsoft page with instructions on How to turn off the speech recognition and the handwriting recognition features in Office 2003. if i do as they say, what does my problem has to do with speech recognition ?

how do i make a proper backup of the registry before? do i have to do it?

i have downloaded regcleaner.exe from your site. does this allow me to clean all or do i have to pay ? ....i dont have any money... i was just fired on friday !! is there an easiest way except microsoft and can i find a SAFE (VIRUS FREE) registry cleaner for outlook 2003 FOR FREE ??

please help me to find the easiest way to solve my problem or else i have to format disk, and i cannot !!! i am trying to find a job to live.......

help me again, kind Halo !!! thanx, thanx !!!

As I made reference earlier, these two options if they were installed can slow or freeze the opening of attachments in Outlook... I know they dont seem like they have anything to do with your problem but as following these instructions has helped others with slowness of attachments its worth doing, you would only kick yourself if this was the fix?

    thank you so much :)

your program in major geeks doesnt allow me to delete errors in registry. i found one in rsvrops. regcleaner exe and the useless were deleted ok.

i will do as you say with that page of microsoft.

i had already backed up registry with norton system works and i suppose i did it ok :)

outlook tries to open the mails with attachments and the preview pane goes white and from task manager i see ...not responding. it doesnt work i all - it is freezen the only thing it does it to close it from task manager and
...oops very often it popsups the question to restart it in a box. if you tick the box it restarts. the attachments are usually excel, word, powerpoint and are virus free checked before and with norton and with my email provider company which always safely checks emails.

thank you for your time and for helping me so much !

at first, yesterday evening it worked when i did what microsoft page tells me to, regarding speech recognition. so it did in the morning. then it stopped responding as it used to do...

is there another solution, except formating (!!!) because i was just fired on friday and i have to send CVs !!!

    heeeeeeeeeeeelp :(

SO disableing speach recognition did actually allow you to open messages/attachments? then it went back to how it was before? ( just getting it clear in my head )

slightly different direction to slowdowns in emails.... but as the above did work.. albiet for a short time I would think that was the actual fix.... have no idea why it would revert back tho.... did Outlook look before it went back to not opening emails look as if it was installing someting.. boxes popup, error messages etc

What AntiVirus program do you have installed? Turn it off for a short while to try and open an email with an attachment.

also as you have XP you will also have Outlook Express ... maybe set that up with your email info and see if attachments will work with that as a short term work around ... just so you can send your CVs.

    dear Halo !
    thanks for your help !

I USE OFFICE 2003 WITH WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL !

disabling speech recognition worked for a few hours in the evening and in the morning, then it stopped again responding !
it allowed me to open atttachments (word, excel, powerpoint) and outlook worked great for a few hours only. i thought that everything was ok.

i have Norton SystemWorks 2005 for downloading viruses.

when i had the problem and i closed outlook, i had an outlook box to tell me to restart it or not, and send or not a message of the error in microsoft (but the only thing i did was to close it ! ).
no popups, no other error messages ...

i cant use outlook express cause i use all outlook 2003 features. i will try and close norton systemworks and see how it works.

OOPS ... I FORGOT TO TELL YOU THAT I HAVE BROADBAND DSL AND I HAVE ENABLED A FIREWALL WITH MY ROUTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    SHOULD I DISABLE IT ????

I WILL DISABLE DSL ROOTER AND NORTON AND WE WILL SEE .....

THE ONLY SOLUTION REMAINING AFTERWARDS IS FORMATTING ???????????

    :(

Dont think your firewall is causing this BUT maybe Norton scanning the attachments is blocking them or causing the slowdown ( cheers to Steve for this info )

Well Maggie congratulations on resolving your problem, didnt think of Detect & Repair ( and its two options ) as a resolution as you had re-installed a few times, SO it seems a left over setting must have caused this... great sluth work :)

    Dave
ps. Good Luck on the job front.
