For bizzaire reason my Internet explorer browser crashes when i open the "www.download.com" webpage. The error signature i recieve is as follows, (appname: iexplorer.exe appver: 6.0.2900.2180 modname:mshtml.dll modver 6.0.2900.2769 offset: 008a9a1). when i send the error report, one recomendation i recieve from the more information link is to download an update for internet explorer 6 for win xp sp2. i did that and rebooted my system. This did not remedy the problem. I do not get this problem when using firefox. Any recomendtions. HEEEEEELLLLLPPPPP!!. i use win xp sp2 home edition with all security updates, zone alarm internet security 6 and spysweeper. any help will be greatly appreciated

How about a re-install and re-update up IE?

Though, might I ask why you use IE at all if you have FF?

Try to repair it using the System File Checker tool.

Go to Start, run and type in sfc /scannow (Note there is a space after sfc )

You will need your Windows CD.

I did what U recommended Mada Milty woz successful, but... another problem has developed. the advanced tab on the internet options is blank so i can't change any settings. and i cannot get any windows updates on the sites because internet explorer is not configured to allow active x controls. how can i do that when the advanced tab is blank. i'll try insomniacs sfc /scannow.
if nothing works I AM BINNING THIS COMPUTER, AAAARRRRRGGGHHH!!!!!.

P.s i am a sane man but this computer is slowly testing my patience

You can get windows updates through Firefox at this link.
The critical updates may help solve your prob,if not at least you can still get updates.

If only i knew that yesterday. i've done a fresh install of xp but still www.download.com crashes my IE6 browser. this is very wierd because no other website causes this behaviour. Is it something to do wit the graphics? why i think so is because the download.com start page is bright green. I know it sounds dorky, but maybe this could be the cause of the problem.
