im running xp pro on one computer and i went into my display properties and settings/ advanced/adapter and it said vga and adapter info said on all lines no resources so i went into my properties,(like an idiot) and in device usage
and disabled it, because my intentions was to load a different driver.

So the screen went black, so i rebooted and tried last known good no luck?
so tried safe mode stll no luck same black screen is there any way i can fix this? thanx in advance!

Try removing the video card & reinstalling it and hopefuly Windows will detect it on startup as new hardware and install the generic video drivers. Good luck :)

thanx but that wont work because the video card is not onboard its a agp slot
that connects to the monitor, thats what i dont understand in device manager
it did not show video adapter before this happened, and i checked in the bios and agp slot is on auto any other ideas of changing it back to where it was
maybe command line and do a system restore if that is possible? thanx

Yeah like I said, Turn off the computer, open up the case, take the video card out of the AGP slot, reinsert it and power up the computer. Windows should find new hardware and install the generic drivers. HTH :)

Since the device was enable within the OS (whether it had drivers installed or not), it is not possible to correct this problem by simply removing the card, re-installing it, etc.

If Last Known Good Configuration (which handles situations like this) is no cure than you are SOL. Safe Mode still would need the device to be enabled (not using drivers would not help).

I will search around for you and let you know but at the moment I can't think of anything logical. There is a good chance that there might not be a valid workaround, in that case, I am afraid you might have to re-install the OS.

I had a similar problem with xp home. I was able to switch the plug from the monitor from my pci vid.card and plug it into the onboard graphics on my mother board then reboot into my bios, change graphics to on board, reboot into xp,fixed the damage I did and reboot into bios change back graphics to pci, reboot into xp and change the plug from the monitor back. Hope this will work for you. Good luck.
