vga to dvi-i

hello all.wondered if anyone can explain this to me(apologies if posted in wrong place)i have been given a lcd t.v which has a dvi-i input.My computer is quite old and only has the standard vga output(i think its called that anyhow :-o) iv been looking around and am quite confused (thats not hard if you know me)..so basicly can i connect my computer to this t.v?and if this is possible what would be needed and what would i ask the p.c shop for?many thanks for reading and any help anyone can give..thanks take care all

 

You should be able to get an adapter or cable to suit your needs... you'll need something like this cable. It will have to be VGA-Male on one end (to plug in to the PC/video card), and DVI-Male on the other end, but the DVI end of the cable will depend on if the LCD has a female or male port; most will have female ports.

 

thanks for that ..ive just looked at the dvi socket on the t.v and it has holes not pins... so thats a female socket ..(all the jokes are gone for that now i spose ..thanks for the help it means a lot ..sorta know what im doin now..take care
