I have a legacy video captur device in my pc. I plugged the VCR into that. I opened Windows Movie Maker. I clicked on :capture from video driver.
the program froze. Every time. HELP?

AFAIK WMM can't accept analogue inputs, such as VHS. You need TV recording software for that. Not really my subject though.

But it used to work. I am not sure if I used the same software, (I think so) but it was the same video capture device and the same vcr.

It wouldn't have been WMM. Do you have any Cyberlink software? That could be it.

Video capture devices are always supplied with capture software - they are useless without it. It's there somewhere.

If nothing has been removed, and you have successfully recorded from your vcr before, then the software is still on your computer.

You could get some info about the capture device from Device Manager, and try googling for more info about the software it uses.
