Vid Card Compatibility

Hello Everyone, and thanks for helping. I recently purchased a new computer. After installing everything, it worked like a dream, I was SO happy. Then I came home with my new speakers. I plugged them up. Turned on the computer.. and ... no cmos beep.. just blank. Nothing on monitor.. we pull everything one by one. It came down to the video card. My video card is a Radeon 9600. Well, just to make sure, I pull my other vid card, a radeon 9100. It runs fine again.. well.. now I'm thinking the card is flawed, so I sent it back to Newegg.com. They accept it and give me a BRAND NEW Radeon 9600.. I plug it all up again.. NOTHING! I plug in the 9100 again.. works fine.. So here's my question. WHAT video card that is just as good/better then a Radeon 9600 is compatible with my Motherboard.

Also.. why would this work for a few days, THEN not work at all? I'm so confused..

 

well, i had an ati that didn't like running at anything but agp8x even though it's agp4x compatible. in fact, from experience, i can't recall any ati video card EVER working below agp8x when it was spec'ed for agp8x. so your problem can just be that: it doesn't like agp4x, especially since your board only supports up to agp4x

graphics card wise, the main rival for the 9600 is the nvidia 5700. i'd get that and test it out. hopefully, it would work for your setup.

 

Ok, so what's a good Vid Card for 4x? (garaunteed to work)
