Video benchmark & Vista

I've downloaded some video bench apps from MG and I want to make sure that they're Vista compatible before I run 'em just in case they're not, I don't want to mess anything up (I know that's highly unlikely, but we've all heard the Vista nightmare stories ). Here's what I've got so far: CodeCreatures, ChameleonMark, and PC Mark '05. I'll be running 'em on an NVidia PCIx video card (non SLI). And does anybody have a suggestion as to some other good bench tools for Vista and NVidia???? The PC is running an Intel Core2Duo 2.13ghz (E6420), 1gb DDR2-667, 400gb SATA2 Seagate..... any suggestions or tips will be greatly appreciated! Thanx!

I'm running Vista right now. It isn't a horrendous OS (I've had some compatibility issues, but an optional Windows update fixes that), so I have no nightmare stories. Just run the apps guy. The worst thing a benchmark program can do is either not run period or crash. There's no risk of it wiping critical files, or melting your video card or anything. If it runs, yay. If it doesn't, try to patch it or pick another program. PC Mark comes highly recommended, though.


EDIT: For another good benchmark, you could always check on the 3dMark series. Excellent gaming ben chmarks, used widely.

 

So far so good! I'd heard all kinds of nasty stories about Vista, but now that I'm sitting here using Vista on several PC's, I see that any fears I had were basically unfounded. The only real 'problem' I've had is finding a compatible sound driver for the built-in audio on one motherboard. Anyway- I've run several different bench apps and haven't had any problems.... So Vista seems OK, but I'm still not dumping XP Pro on my home PC just yet.....
