Video Capture Device

Hi everyone its been a while since I was here last. I have a roxio Vhs to dvd video capture device that will let me transfer analog to digital, the problem is that it wants me to save this on my hard drive, or burn directly to DVD. I am looking to just watch external analog thru this into my computer onto my monitor, I don't want to capture or save..the screen that roxio lets you watch is so small I can't hardly see anything on it. Is there any software out there that will let me just watch? or does anyone know ho to make the screen larger on the roxio? I have yellow rca =composite video, red and white rca for right left audio... or does anyone know how to get inside and tap off the digital out of the player and splice into a usb or even into a hdmi direct to monitor? I know that this should be possible, I just can't think straight and get it in my head...help...please.
