Video Card Driver Problem

Hello, I have a Dell XPS Laptop and have a problem with the video card driver (or so I think).

When I first turn my laptop on, I get green vertical lines across the screen and I can't get past the windows loading screen. The windows logo also looks pixilated. The screen just goes black but my laptop stays on. My laptop will turn on if I go through safe mode and everything looks fine. Also, I downloaded a program called 'autorun' and disabled 'nv' under the driver tab. The 'nv' refers to something called 'NVIDIA Compatable Windows 2000 Miniport Driver, Version 84.69. 'nv4_mini.sys'. I am also able to use my computer just fine if I turn 'nv' off from the driver tab, (just like in safemode) I just can't play any games, such as World of Warcraft.

My video card is 'NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX'
When I go to device manager there is an explanation point next to it.

What do I do about this? I am not very good with computers, but I have been told by numerous people that this is a software issue not a hardware issue and I need to update drivers. But I am unable to uninstall any nvidia drivers from the control panel and I am not sure how I download the correct drivers. I tried reading into this but it seems like a very complicated task and I have no idea what to do.

Ok, I think I have a bigger problem now.

I turned my laptop off, but now when I try to turn it on, it turns on, but just stays at a black screen. The red lights on the sides and in the front are on, but the screen just stays black. What do i do?

I also don't have any bios messages on startup.

 

You may want to post your new info in Hardware, doesn't sound like a driver problem.
