I hope you can help me. I have gone to so many websites. My computer is old (2004 Windows XP SP). I need updated video/audio cards (drivers?) so I am able to play some computer games from websites. My computer was made from scratch by a small computer store in another state. My video card is S3 Pro Savage but whenever I go to find out about what to do, I have a scan run and then they want $29.99 or $39.99 to update my stuff. I did this with one company, ran the scan and they found 11 outdated drivers. I managed to upgarde the S3 driver but I find no difference at all in playing games so I cancelled it. I went to Microsoft but then I got Driver Detective with pages and pages of instruction. Being a senior citizen I was overwhelmed. Any help or do I just have to save for a new computer? Thank you.:-o

Perhaps your video card isn't good enough or your computer isn't fast enough or you don't have enough RAM to handle these games.

Some info about your computer would be helpful.

Brand name and model of computer(if known), how much RAM is in it, integrated(on board) video card or separate card in it's own slot. Processor speed, hard drive capacity, how much the HD has free.

HI...I tried to do it but after you install the ActiveX, the page is blank. You can see a couple of words but I can't get it to show the whole page.

It is VIA Technologies. 14 GB left ...496 MB Ram...is this enough or more?

It is an integrated video card...

Intel Celeron CPU 2.53 GHz sorry this is so disjointed...

Right click on My Computer, select properties and state how much RAM it says. It will probably be the last line where the speed is mentioned then the RAM.

Post a link to one site where you want to play a game and I'll see what you need.

    What browser are you using?
You said you have XP SP, but what SP?

My ram is 496. I was able to download my S3 Graphics driver but the date of the driver is 2004 which is when I got my computer so I guess there are no more updates. I have 14GB left on computer memory. ??

You probably have 512MB of RAM and it drops to 496 because the onboard chip is using 16MB of the RAM.

Go to www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ and run the scanner so you know exactly what type and speed of RAM you have. It will also tell you the maximum that your motherboard supports.

You should be running at least 1GB if you want to play online games in XP.
You should have a dedicated video card and not use an onboard video chip as you are currently using.

In order to know what sort of slots are in your computer, to tell you what kind of video card to buy, you need to run another program which will give you all the details.
