video card help..Please

hey guys, i have a EVGA 6600 256mb pci-e card. today i got riva tuner and changed my setting to 6600 gt. and windows reads it as the gt now. my ? is will it mess up my card if i keep it like this? it seams to be working fine. what do you guys think. and also what more can i doe with the riva tool to make my card faster and better?

 

run an intensive game for a while or benchmark it (3dmark) to test the stability, ie check for stuttering and/or artifacts. If its all good then it should be fine. If not, stick it back to stock settings. As a 6600gt it should be running at significantly higher clock speeds and could cause problems.

you could also run the artifact tester in ATItool for a while

 

cool, ill try that too. also whats a safe temp for the gpu? my is at 57c right now.

under load thats amazing, seems about right, maybe lil high for idle (anyone correct me if im wrong)

yes that temp is at idle, im thinking of getting a diffrent fan for it. so the temp will go down some.
the card is great. never had any problems with it. and its the cheaper one too. i did the 3dmark of on it and i got the score around 1090 and yesterday i did the test after i played with riva tuner and my score went to 2098 or close to that. is that good or what for a gpu? and all i did was change the setting to 6600 gt. i have played ever game i have from HL2, doom3, call of duty 2, BF2, NFS most wanted, and they all play great.
