video card help

alright well i have a compaq presario.. and it runs fast but lately its been getting shitty fps at some points when im playing like counterstrike. Im talking like 10-20 when usually it gets 30-45

i still have the stock video card which is like intel 82845G graphic card or something like that.. so my question is will any like 50-70$ ati or nvidia graphic car improve my fps dramatacily over the shitty one that came with my computer?

also what else can improve performance because i was thinking of getting 1GB of memory to add to the 512mb thats already on here.

Will i be able to add the new vid card with this stock computer? or will i need anything else to compensate for the more power being used by the vid card?

For the memory the best is 2 GIGS there are pretty cheap right now around
$35.00 CND for 512 megs.

And for the graphic card get a cards for at least $150.00 to $200.00 if you want some good improvement.....

 

alright but i believe i only have 2 slots for memory and one is already filled with 512mb

about this vid card which one would you consider in the 150$ price range.. since i dont really feel like spending 200$.

on ebay i can get a ATI Radeon 9600 XT 256MB for 75$ , i heard the card is worth around 150-200$ , would this improve my framerate?

 

ATI Radeon x1650 Pro is $149.99, probly the best for that price range. Also, where can you get the ram for $35? Not being sarcastic, I really do want to know, the lowest ive found was $52 after taxes for 512 at NCIX. If you wait a few more months I'm sure the x1950 Pro will come down in price
