well crap lol...do you think she needed to install the geforce card it's only pci, her other card on motherboard is pci express, she was just told built in vid cards are not usually as good

Well, if her other card was PCI Express, it was not "built in". Are you saying she removed a PCI Express video card to install a PCI video card, thinking that was an upgrade? That would be a downgrade, not an upgrade. :(

Did she think the PCI Express was "built in" because it was in the computer when it was new? :confused That's not the correct interpretation of "built in". The standard terminology for "built in" video is "onboard" or "intergrated". In other words, the video display adapter is integrated into the motherboard; it is not a removable card.

So, again, she apparently has downgraded her system, and wasted some money. And, by the way, the FX 5200 is a poor choice for gaming, anyway.

ok sorry for wrong terms lol, yes her vid card is onboard the pci express one....on the motherboard, if you look at the link in my original post you will see that. i too thought that the card that she bought was was downgrade. But the geforce card is what the person sold her saying it would be an upgrade. From the report by everest in my link it looks to me like there is an open pci express slot on her motherboard but the techi who sold her the pci card said there was not. Is it possible to have both cards running? She is on a fixed income and i am just trying to help her. And yes i agree that 5200 is not a good choice, think she got burned and bad advice from place she took her pc

Uh, no, her onboard is not PCI Express, it's Integrated ATI Radeon X300 based graphics; this appears to be motherboard she has: IntelĀ® Desktop Board D102GGC2.

I think she got ripped off. Again, that FX 5200 is not an upgrade here. And, as you can see in the above link, she DOES HAVE a PCI Express x 16 slot. So, a PCI Express video card would have been the way to go for an actual upgrade.

Again, she does not have two cards; she has Integrated video and a card, the FX 5200. If she wanted to run dual monitors, she might be able to do that by using both Integrated video and the PCI card, but that's not an issue here since I doubt she has any intention of running dual monitors.

thankyou very much for your replies Usafveteran:) Yes i too think she got burnt, which really sucks as i think i said before she is on a fixed income. I kinda feel at fault (although i really did steer her in correct direction, just the vendor totally sold her wrong product). We had gone into a new zone in the game we play and the lag was really really bad. i also had integrated vid card roughly same as hers so i went out and bought a sapphire hd 3650 pci express and that cured my lag very well. I told of what i had done and bought and suggested she do the same. I just have no idea why that vendor sold her that crappy card. She told me she requested a pci express card but the vendor told her she had no pci express slot on her motherboard and that the 5200 would be a good upgrade for her. So i will tell her to go back using old graphics, just wondering if you would have any ideas on what she could possibly do to get that card to perform better....overclock?, tweak settings somehow? basically HELP PLZ lol. Also in that report i linked it said her bios was outta date? would updating that help at all? Any further advice be greatly appreciated
    TY
