Video Card maybe?

I posted a couple of months ago about video problems with games mostly.
When I play Bejeweled or flipwords the screen kind of locks up between rounds and sometimes crashes.
Before the concensus was another program was conflicting with them.
I just did a re-format and re-install of XP and drivers.
Before I put anything else on I installed Bejeweled2 and tried it out with the same results.
Also, after I experience problems, I get flickering lines across the bottom of the screen.
I am running XP with 1.5 gig processor and 512 of ram.
The video card is a Gforce2 with 64 MB of ram.
The computer is about 4 years old.
Any suggestions?

Can you possibly try the card on another machine?
Also, what monitor do you have, because this could possibly be the problem as you mentioned that you've reinstalled drivers etc.

 

It's a Viewsonic UltraBrite A90f+ monitor.

I havnt played any of those games but I would suspect its them,I think you should run a 3dmark prog like 3dmark 2000 if the benchmark goes all the way through I think your hardware will be fine,have you installed the latest drivers also?

 

Yep, I have the latest drivers,
I don't think it's the games though because the lines on the bottom of the screen happen anyway. I just got home from work and there they were.
It's like they emulate the toolbar but in small pieces.
The games are ok I think, a couple of times they crashed me while playing online though.

I'm still trying to figure this out.
But the problem seems to be getting worse.
The last couple of days the game will get really distorted and my computer will shit down but not the graphics and sound....wierd huh?
I mean no lights or noise coming from the case but the game is still distorted on the screen and the sounds of it still play.
I have to maually press the reset button to continue.
Video card or not you think?
