Video card or radio waves???

Hi, could anybody look at this jpeg and tell me if its my video card going bad or radio interference? My laptop screen has been doing this horizontal distortion occasionally, theres no controling it, I've tried unplugging my usb wireless mouse and turning off wifi, nothing seems to help, and ideas?:confused

Any type of radio interference wouldn't do that. The only interference I ever get is occasionally from my cell phone and it doesn't affect the video- only audio: I get a wierd 'chirping' type sound in the speakers...

Is this just on occasion or all the time?

If on occasion then is it when your laptop has been on a while? if so monitor the temps as the gfx card/chip maybe getting too hot, also check all the vents and fans for dust and clean them, also is the laptop placed on a hard surface or a soft one as a soft surface like a bed can cause the vents underneeth to become blocked and thus leads to the internal temps of components rising and this can cause graphical errors.

It looks like your video (card) is going bad....I would try getting some Ferrite Beads and putting them around any data cables. You used to be able to get them at Radio Shack.

hi, I managed to hook up to external monitor, it looks fine there, I uninstalled the video driver, didn't help. Now I rebooted to the repair xp on my windows cd, screen looks perfect in the black & white repair mode, I'm running chkdsk/r are there any other commands or things I can try to fix this?
