video card/ power problem ?

I have a redeon 9800 pro which hasnt been changed in months and hasnt been overclocked...

Yesterday I booted up my computer to find my video looking much like a nintendo game would if the cartridge was dirty... the screen was blotched, checkered, etc.

I turned the pc off immediatly and noticed also that the case fans were still running at a minimum., and the lights were still on on them.... after the pc was off. I removed the card from the agp slot and as soon as the card came out of the slot the the fans stopped.

I made sure all was clean and fit it back in securely, plugged it in, and the computer wouldnt boot. I cleared the cmos then got the computer to boot, but with the same visual problem, from bios screen on. I turned it off and found the same problem with the fans/refusal to boot afterwards, repeatedly.

System information is:

2800+ Barton
Abit nf7-s rev. 2.0
radeon 9800 pro 128 meg / 256 bit
512 PC 333 Ram
2 80 gig seagate SATA
Audigy 2 gamer
Enermax 400 watt PS

I plugged the same card in another computer and got the graphics issue, but not the fan/power issue.

 

I'd test the PSU first

I'm thinking you might have both failing PSU & Video card, and or MOBO too?
If your PSU is failing it could damage other hardware.

 

So let me get this staight, you pulled the video card out with the PC still Pluged into the wall, but with the power off? But to the point, sound like the video card is dead.
