Video Card Problem with BHD

This is in the game section also but it relates too both things, so if anyone has any advice.


I just spent a lot upgrading my computer, it has top-of-the-line speed and everything. I got a new video card, a Nvidea GeForce 6600, all the drivers are updated, and in fact it runs Counter Strike Source fine, but not Black Hawk Down. Counter Strike is a very demnading gme, alot more demanding then BHD, a game that requires very little speed to run. I was hoping someone could explain while Black Hawk Down crashes around 10 minutes into the game and the screen goes black.

Now it used to not work at all, it said out of sync, but ichanged the resoltuion to lower and it works now, but crashes and a black screen appears, and i have to turn on and off my computer. The refresh rate is 60 hz, it works fine on counter strike, but for some reason doesnt run black hawk down.

Ive tried 3 different forums, so im hoping this one will provide the solution.

Have you checked into possible overheat problems!!?? The more intense actions on a computer...the more heat it will put out!!!!!!!

Is there a fan on the video card...is the fan on the cpu adequate....is the airflow inside the case good or is everything cramped in there...Is the tower out in the open or is it down in a tight cabinate where it could be grasping for fresh air!!!???

If you are unsure about any of those things....run the comp with the side off and a regular household fan blowing into the case to see if that resolves your issues!!

well im glad i posted it in this section, lol. I will try that tonight asap and see if it works and post the results.

 

make sure the game is fully patched up,check novalogics forum for this problem,download the latest drivers form nvidia 77.72,run driver cleaner pro before you install the new drivers,"read the readme,follow to the letter or it wont work",if your using 60hz on a crt monitor it is slowly blinding you ,up it to 85hz minimum,post the rest of your system specs,or download sandra and post the system summary as an attachement.

 

Well if it was a overheating problem why wouldnt it overheat when playing a more dmeanding game like counter strike source?

ok, thnx for the advice, i ran driver cleaner and re-installed em (for the 3rd time) and it worked. I guess u can delete the thread now. Thnx for the help.
