Ok so I am new to all this. This is the first rig i have ever built. check my sig. Now I am looking for a decent low price video card for gaming. I am not sure what my mobo can handle. or what would be good. I play counter strike condition zero and rs. any help would be greatly apreciated.

P.s. my mobo has 1 pci e x16 slot, 2 pci slots, and 3 other pci slots but they are small. i think x1,x2,x3

    Abit AX8 mobo - Athlon 64 3000+ - western digital raptor 80gig hd - Geil 2x 512mbsticks - rocketfish 5.1 sound card - apevia 500watt psu - antec 80mm & 120mm fans

Though this is a brand new card and is quite dear you could look around for a secondhand one on ebay also that you can get alot cheaper, I got one for £14.97 (about $11.00) inclusive of postage, so if i was you i would hunt around.

Ebay is a foolish place to ever BUY anything.

I think we can forgive iain since it looks like he is from the UK and may not be used to US prices...

Having said that, eagle is correct, that card he linked to on ebay is about 50% overpriced. You can get the same card on newegg for $42.

If you want a suggestion for a video card, first tell us how much you want to spend on a card and we can show you the best cards for that amount of money. Also, if you can tell us what games you like to play and at what resolutions, we could comment on if those cards in that price range will do what you want.

I had a Geforce 8600 GT Super 512MB with a similar setup to yours. That served me very well, until I upgraded my system to play latest games.

It all depends on what games you are aiming to play.

I would look at upgrading the CPU and RAM as well, if your budget allows it. Although that board only supports up to Athlon 64 4000+ - that's if the board is AX8 V.1. The AX8 V.2.0 allows up to Athlon 64 X2 4800+ which would be better as dual core processors are better for playing games
