video card recommendation

ok, i've been on pricegrabber for the past couple days, and my budget is 160-170 Max. i'm currently looking at the ABIT Radeon 9600XT Video Card but I've never had anything from ATI or ABIT before and was wondering if anyone around here has had experience with them. If anyone has any other recommendations for me they're appriciated as well! (i'm looking to go to ATI just to try them out, but i dont want to waste money either. x-mas was semi-kind to me and i'm getting 30 bucks towards a video card and i want to make it count. my system specs should be in my sig Thank You for any help!

 

IMO I would wait a little bit, get about $50 more, and get a Nvidia 6600GT for about $200 - $220. The card is just a hair slower, if not matched with its bigger brother the 6800NU. The 6600GT will last you a long time, and will be a great card for current and future gameing.

Also when looking for parts, and buying them i would check out www.newegg.com
I find some of the best prices there, and the best customer support.

I just bought an ATI 9600XT 256Mb, my first ATI card and for a budget card I have absolutely no compaints at all

 

i was looking at the 6600 series, but that's out of my budget. i'm getting help from my parants on the card (x-mas gift) and 170 is my absolute max, and higher than i'd prefer. i'm upgrading from a PNY GeForce 4 MX 440, so most anything is an improvement for me.
