Video card trouble

i recently got a video card

any way
the install failed from the cd
and i realised that because im using vista 32 bit edition i would have to
get the driver from the website
i installed it
it worked perfectly fine

but every now and then the screen goes pink in patches and then goes back to normal
i get a small error message from the catalyst control center saying :
"the video display driver stopped responding but has succesfully recovered"

but some times the screen goes off and doesnt come back
is there a way to make it more stable?
or offer any advice as to what might be causing the problem?
