Have a Radeon 2400hd pro 512 mb and a few months back I started getting the ATIKMDAG error, which got worse over time, now if I try to plug the vid card in I just get a very staticy and blurry screen which eventually my display shuts off and I have to ggo to my onboard.

ATI blames Vista so I tried reformating pc, then tried with XP, then I tried with no OS. ALways same result, so I wonder will this happen again if I replace the vid card or is this one potentially still good, I have tried it in another pc as well with the same results.

    Hi,

Maybe you have some bad caps on Video Board or in Power Supply.
    Take a look !

If you have tried it on another PC that rules out your P hardware and you did he whole OS reinstall, did you update the Video Drivers? Bt it sounds like you have explored the software and if your card is still under warranty I would return it. Otherwise I would consider dismantling it, refreshing the thermal paste and cleaning it up and then try it again.

It came pre installed when I bought the PC, and yeah for luck the company I bought from offers awesome support - NONE. Below the fan is quite dirty so I'll do what you said and hopefully it works if not I am no further behind. Probably just have to get a new card. Its not that great anyways, just a money issue atm. Also I am certain it is the card soley as I have tried an older pcie card and it worked grahpics were worse then my onboard currently is however.

I havnt considered trying but I will now is using the svideo or dvi with my Tv see if that works, I have tried the VGA output on my tv with the same results.

Wouldn't let me edit last one, sry for bumping.

I tried cleaning it and put some more paste on it, when I rebooted, the pc turned on and but nothing was running, just the fan, mouse and keyboard werent even on. I am about to go crazy over this, I'll try the other outputs on the card but past that I think I am screwed.

Are you sure that your power supply is good? It could happen that two things are failing, the vid card and the power supply - it happens.
