video card

my new build that is slowly coming together:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE M57SLI-S4
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
Memory: Cosair 2gb

I'm wondering what video card I should use in it. I don't want to go overboard because I'm more of a console gamer than a PC gamer (gasp) but I do play Unreal, CS 1.6, & Source at the moment. Also I want a video card that will last for a few years and not go out of date with the new games that are coming out... any suggestions?

well seeing as you havent proposed a budget its difficult to help, but if you can afford it then i would personally go for one of the new geforce 8 series cards which fully support DX10 this would keep you futureproof for a while

the games you mention will play on that system with most pci cards on the market, but i wouldnt get anything lower than a geforce 6600 as most games now want pixel shader 3 support, and cards below this wont work

if your looking mid-range with pixel 3 support a good performing card would be the Geforce 7600gt buy a reputable brand such as ASUS..Gainward and these cards also overclock nicely
