I have a radeon 7000 video card. For some reason i only get about 28fps and it is extremly jumpy on games. Although this isnt the best graphics card it shouldnt be performing this bad. It has the latest drivers from ati. Are there any better drivers or anyhitng i can do to speed it up?

What games are you trying to play?

    What are your system specs?

What settings are you trying to play the games at?

Check out ATI.com for latest drivers. You shouldnt see a great performance increase however. It might be time to upgrade to a newer videocard.

Sorry, i meant to post them. I have an azus a7s333 motherboard, 512mb 2700 ddr, 250gig 8mb precache 7200 rpm hardrive, and that video card. It seams it does is on just about anygame that ive tried to play except for the sims is which isnt graphics intensive. I notice it on games such as gta vice city and above. The motherboard is what i suspect has a "bottleneck in it between the memory and processor. If i was to upgrade motherboards, what motherboard would you recomend, and what speeds could i see out fo this graphics card?

yeah, overcooked's right about the video card; it's basically your bottleneck. i don't know what processor you're running, but that could also be the key. the motherboard, on the other hand, is the least of your worries. one thing, though, if you're AGP isn't enabled (you can find that in the ATI control panel somewhere), you should enable it. a simple motherboard driver installation should fix it if that's the case.

Yeah you may want to upgrade that video card. I happened to have a Radeon 7000 sitting around so i tried it. I got about 70fps a second at 800x600 res in counter strike at 16 bit color. That's just standing there once you get moving around in the map then it starts to lag down. Now this is on a 3200+ with 1 gig dual channel ram and a nforce 2 chipset. Trust me the Radeon 7000 is the bottle neck in your system. 150 bucks would get you a 9600 pro or xt. It's worth the investment trust me. Or just ditch ati and go with a company that has good drivers and stability like nvidia.
