    I recently went out and baught a new vid card for my PC which seemed to have worked. Last night, I tryed logging on and it ended up that my computer kept turning on but just a black screen would turn up. I decided to take out the vid card and see if it was the problem and it certainly was. I went back to Comp USA to return it and get a new one [more expenisve then the previous, thinking it was performance or something]. I plug it in exactly how the instructions said, turned it on... Same problem.

    Now I'm just thinking that it may just be the port where I plug it in that is bad.

    Any suggestions?

    what PSU are you using? It sounds like it isnt strong enough. Also, if the card has a molex plug, did u plug in a cable from the PSU?

    Yeh, when I ordered a EVGA 7600gt OC it demanded a minimum of 400w PSU, and when I hooked it up it was doing the same thing that Cmachs is doing. Turned out I only had a 380w PSU. Bought a new one with the correct PSU requirements and it works fine now.

    I have to check that out then.

    So, even if my computer boots up and it's on a black screen, it can be the PSU? Which I am guessing the power? [Don't know what the PSU is]

    Also, is there an easy way of figuring out my PSU? Or open her up and check?

    PSU=power supply

    open it up and in the upper left corner on the PSU there should be s sticker with the PSU info. Tell us the total watts and the amps on the 12v+ rail

    PSU said a bunch of stuff but I wrote down everything so here it goes!

    TigerPro Model : LC-B400ATX

    DC===== +3.3V | +5V | +12V | -12V | -5V | +5VSB
    O/P 28A | 40A | 17A | 0.8A | 0.3A | 2A

    220W | ----- | 9.6W | 1.5W | 10W
    380W |

    Max Total Wattage : 400W

    The mother board is a VIA VT8235
    Supports : AGP 4x

    512MB of RAM

    The video card I purchased is a ATI Radeon 9550 AGP 4x/8x

    The switch under the main switch in the back of the PC [red mini switch], is switched to 115V but if I switch it to the other side it will be 230V. I left it at 115V till you guys come up with an answer for me.

    I hope this helped enough. :]

    hmmmm thats wierd cause it seems strong enough to power a 9550 cause my 430 watt with only 18 amps on the 12v rail can run my 6800XTreme which needs a min of 400watt psu. What does your card say it needs a minimum of? At this point however, im stumped.

    BTW, keep the red switch on 115

    Here's a thought... When you installed the new video card, did you go into the BIOS and turn off onboard video, and then set your "Initialize display" (or something like that) setting to AGP?

    I did nothing of that. I did what the instructions said. Delete the old programs of the old graphics card, take out the old graphics card [which it had no old one] then put in the new one and install those drivers.

    Some instructions step by step please. :]

    yea, do like he said. When you're booting up, it will tell u to press a key to enter setup, most likely DEL or TAB or something like that. Then find the right menu and disable the onboard video

    I really dont want to mess up and do the wrong things, so if anyone may be able to put together a step by step guide. I am sure it wouldn't be so long... Just more of a step by step guy.

    Sorry and thanks again... as usual you guys have been a GREAT help!
