Video Editing Software.

Hey fellas,
I have a bit of a problem going on.

I have tried 5 different brands of editing software and each one of them closes (not crashes) saying something along the lines of "Blah blah blah has experienced a problem and needs to close".
My Computer had to close at one stage too as I was uploading some new videos saying something sililar about a "problem".

I have a new comp which is...
Pentium Dual Core E2200 @2.2GHz with 2 gig RAM running XP. No video card installed. All video codecs up to date.

All programs used to run on my old Pentium 4 with 750MB of RAM (albiet a bit slower)

Any ideas as to what could be causing a conflict with just videos?

PS. As an incentive, my first born is giving me the shits lately so whoever can work this out can have him.

 

In addition to Halo's recommendations, you may want to find out which codecs you have installed and if any of them are broken. Broken codecs can cause all sorts of issues with video files, as can having the same codec installed numerous times. It's generally best to use one complete codec pack versus installing one, discovering it doesn't have a specific codec, and then installing another pack. This can cause codec 'overlapping' which can cause problems.

I have tried using Cyberlink PowerDirector, uLead Video Studio 11, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas Video and even Windows Movie Maker.

The computer & system is less than 4 weeks old and everything was updated when installed.

I use the K-Lite code pack. It's up to date.

There is no exact error message. Sometimes the applications just stop working, other times they come up with the message " Cyberlin PowerDirector has experienced a problem and needs to close" (that's if I'm using Cyberlink. If I'm using Adobe, it will say Adobe Premiere has experienced a problem and needs to close").

I have attached an error report I got from PowerDirector as I've uninstalled everthing else in preperation for reformatting.

Try uninstalling Avi Splitter.

Start -> Run

Type in "cmd" (without quotation marks) and press Enter. Type in "regsvr32 -u AviSplitter.ax" (without quotation marks) and press enter. Type in "Exit" and press enter or click the X.

 

LoadLibrary("AviSplitter.ax") failed. The specified module could not be found.



So I took a punt and just went into the codec folder and deleted that file and now it seems to be working.
