    Hello
How can I send videos thru email because the email programs only accept a certain amount of MBs like 25?
What free program does MG suggest?

What are you using for your Operating System?
If XP, your Email? (Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird, etc)

    Hi Dan
Since you have come aboard you are properly reminding me of the correct way to post. I have been getting lazy.
Win 7 Home premium x 64 - i5, and my email is live.com - it has a max of 25 mb I think and Comcast is about the same.
The Flip video cam program has software that I finally worked out. It had to do with firmware and other updating to the current version. Since then I can use their software to mail 200MB. I am trying to keep it simple for my 9 year old grand daughter.
I am curious if there is a program, with integrity, you would recommend to send large files from desktop.
    Thank you
    Peter

    Hi

Best way to send large files is to upload them on a file host, and then email the download links. I use www.mediafire.com (free) and there's other free ones out there.

No problem. I can't take credit, though, as another forum member mentioned it in another thread... which is how I found out about it! I honestly can't remember who it was, but they're ultimately the ones to thank. :)

    I also appreciate the referral.
I think I used Photo bucket to send links to forums which needed to see pictures. I would take a photo of a ? broken whatever and upload it to that site. I would then click on some button which allowed me to send that link to the forum. Then, they, in turn, could click on the link and the picture would surface.
I know I am drifting but I do believe in retrospect that you could also send large files from there after uploading. I could be wrong as it has been awhile.
I had some malware issue about that time which may not be related but I thought it cautious to mention it.
The Flip software is great now that I have upgraded; I am sending 20 minute videos and moving up.

The other way i was thinking of depends on the size of the video you can add it to a compression tool (winzip, Winrar, 7Zip) that will shrink the size of the video file and send it through email as a attachment. But the person at the other end needs a compression tool to unzip the file and beable to view it once unzipped.

Actually, compression archive tools don't generally reduce video file sizes hardly at all, as most modern video container formats (MP4, MKV, etc.) have already compressed the video about as much as it can.

    Mcsmc,

It was just a thought I had in my mind but didn't know if it would work or not.

And a good thought. Some older video container formats don't compress the video as well as the new ones, so if you have videos that use an older container format, compression like ZIP, RAR, TAR, 7z, etc. will help with the size. :)

This site allows up to 300MB (free); I'm not sure what the size is on a paid account. You simply upload the file(s) and send a link in the email. The file remains for 30 days.
    http://www.sendspace.com/
    or http://www.dropsend.com/
free allows 2GB size and up to 5 files sent in a month but you do have to register.
