im looking for a video player that will play .flv videos.
    any suggestions?
the current edition of Windows Media Player will not play the .flv videos i have.
when i try to open a .flv video i have Windows Media Player will say this..
"Windows Media Player cannot play this file. The file is either corrupt or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play"
i know the .flv videos i have are good because they would work on my older computer that i no longer use.
i downloaded RealPlayer, and i couldnt get the videos to play.
i downloaded vlc-0.8.5-win32 and it would also not play the videos.
i also downloaded nFLVPlayer, and it too would not play the videos. it will say..
"FlashPlayer componets were not found on your system. Do you want to visit Macromedia site to download them?"
i click yes and get this message..
"nFLVPlayer uses the ActiveX version of Flash Player the plugin. you need to upgrade your plugin speciffically through Internet Explorer. Do you want to continue starting IE?"
..but im not using IE, i use FireFox.
when i click no, it gives me this message..
"The progrm will now quit. Please start again nFLVPlayer after you have installed the flash player componets."
after going to the macromedia website it told me this..
    "You have version 9,0,124,0 installed"
i say forget nFLVPlayer, i dont need the trouble.

i just want a simple player that will play my .flv videos.
what free video player can i download to play .flv videos?

    I use FLVPlayer4Free V2.6.0.0 right her from MajorGeeks. Sorry I can't provide a link.

I believe you also have to have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed.

I believe Adobe Media Player will play .flv files as well.

u have to do just what it says, use internet explorer, just this once, to get the updated flash software...then you should be fine.

    :) or that...

you can also download flash here:

or just go to adobe's site, and click the link to get the latest flash player. In firefox, it will prompt you to download the standalone installer, rather than an activex prompt.
