video freezes

hope this is the right forum for this.
i have recently encountered a problem. my video files are freezing fow a few second and begin to play again in my videolan player. i also record music with a program(adobe audition and cool edit pro) , im noticing a slight freeze in those programs as well. im not sure what could be causing this. i have deleted many programs to free up room and have about 10 g left. i turn all applications off when using these programs but still have issues. i did just ttempt to clean out aol from my registrys(had a trial on). i havnt been using aol so i got risd of it the best i can.. anyone know why im having this problem? thanks...

 

Some system specs will help. CPU? Memory? Operating system? etc........
