Video Lan player

I got some movies on my computer but they are .omg files so a freinds told me to us a player called Video Lan or VCL, i foudn it and i have it on my computer but he sayed somthin about being able to change the laguage of the movie in to jap. and have eng. subtitles but i cant figuer out how to do that.

There's a whole bunch of things you'll also need to play an .ogm file. You need a codec to unwrap the .ogm file. You need a codec to decode the video. You need a codec to hear the audio. You need software subtitle support to get the subtitles.

I reccommend you simply get the CCCP: the Combined Community Codec Pack. It's made by several of the most popular anime fansubbing groups, and works very well, IMX.

Also, please be aware that while most publishers turn a blind eye to fansubs for programs that are not liscenced for distribution in the US (it's free advertising for them) it is still a grey area for legality. And once the title has been liscenced, most legit fansubbing groups stop distributing that title. If you like the shows you see, please try to puchase the DVDs.

 

When you open the file in VLC, under Audio in the toolbar, select Audio Track, and pick the track with the language you prefer. For subtitles, under Video in the toolbar, select Subtitle Track. I use the K-Lite Codec pack with Media Player Classic, also. And da chicken is right, buy the dvds when available. It increases the odds that more will be made available domestically.
