How does one get a segment of a video to loop back and repeat in any of the major players? Say, 2:42-4:13 out of some 9 minute video, playing ad nauseum (or a set number of times).

This used to be trivially easy in winamp, but I can't figure out how to do it in recent versions. Nor in WMP or VLC.

I can set start and end points ("bookmarks") in all 3, but can't figure out where "play segment" or somesuch thing is located!

This is driving me NUTS. What's the catch?!

VLC should have a button at the bottom near the Play and Pause button to choose Loop One or Loop all. Have VLC version 1.1.4.1 installed on the Linux box and loop works with audio, imagine it will with video. You may need to edit out the video potion you want to loop and make it a separate file.:confused

good lord, no! that's what i'm doing now -- as a kludge -- but that's exactly what i'm trying to OVERCOME.

the "looping whole file" thing i'd already found (sorry, maybe wasn't clear); it's the "play subset" part -- loop or no loop -- that i'm asking about mainly.
