Video only in B&W

A long while back, the colour on .wmv files went awry on my computer.
Today, any .mpg or .wmv files ( played in winamp3, windows media player, or even during the opening clips of NHL 2004 ), have all gone black and white. I deleted winamp3 and re-installed it, no change.
I really have no clue on this one.
I'd appreciate any help here!

Oh yeah... P3, 700MHz, Win 2000 (NT5.0), 20GB HD, 256 RAM, Rage 128 Pro.

 

Are you running XP ?
And........
prior to the B&W problem with videos, had you tampered at all with RealPlayer??

 

I also have RealPlayer, but to the best of my knowledge, haven't done anything with it (like set it so that things are always associated with it, etc.). Not that it's impossible, but I try never to pigeon-hole myself into a program

 

I've heard of RealPlayer causing video playbacks to revert to black and white, in all the computers players. Rare, but have heard of it. If nobody else comes up with any other answers here, you may want to try reinstalling RealPlayer.
Hopefully someone else will have another suggestion.

 

I have another sugestion..
Uninstall real player. Lock it up throw away the key and never install it again
Then update to the latest codecs for divx and the lastest version of media player
