Video Playing Program For Personal Website

    I don't know if this is even the right place, or right thread for help. I have a personal family website that I purchased the domain through godaddy.com and also the website is hosted through their portal. I have a bb2 message board, a family blog, a cms portal, a picture gallery, a genealogy program with my family tree, and have recently added a file sharing application. Since it's for family members I am using it to share documents, photos, and videos for the family members to watch or read. But everytime a family members click on a link to a pdf document or video, it automatically downloads the file. I am looking for a program that will allow them to view the file in the browser. Does anyone know of a program that will open files in the browser. Most people, even family members don't like having a file download automatically, and I can't blame them. I just looking for an easier way. If this is not the right thread to place this post, let me know and I will change it, thanks

    To be able to read a pdf in a browser, each person has to install an addon/plugin/extension for the browser he or she uses. And make sure it is enabled.

    I can read pdf files in my browser, palemoon, because I have installed an addon called Sumatra pdf.

    (I don't have Adobe Reader installed so I can't test this). The only toolbar/add-on I have from Adobe is Flash and it is disabled.

    It will be a headache trying to poll everyone to find out what browser they use then point them to a plugin to download and enable to view the pdf in the browser.
