video problems after installing xp

i installed xp on my computer about a week ago,and am having trouble with video playback.my videos are slow and jerky on any media player or file type.does anyone know what could be causing this or any solutions?thanks in advance

 

i have pentium II processor,348 mHz,128 ram.the computer is around 4 years old.on video playback,the sound is fine,but the video plays very slowly and out of synck,and sort of jerks around,it does this on any file type,mpg,avi,svcd,all of them.i've tried several media players,the same thing happens on all of them.very annoying

 

i can't afford another computer at this time,but perhaps i should go back to using 98,since i didnt have these problems with it,sounds like this computer simply isn't powerful enough to use xp
