    Hey everyone!

I'm actually posting this for a friend of mine, who isn't too good in English. So, he just bought a new computer (save a case) and is building it by himself. He has assembled the computer and it powers up, but the screen just says "no signal" and the computer itself gives the video error code, one long beep and two short ones.

All the parts were bought new and he has checked and reassembled everything multiple times. Is the graphics card broken or what? :confused

The graphics card is Ati Radeon HD 4850 OC Edition and the motherboard is Asus P5Q.

And the graphics card's brand is Club3D, forgot to mention.

Possible i am not to savvy with what the beeps mean, to rule it out either try a diff card(extra lying around?) or if the Mobo has onboard video give that a shot.

I know for a fact that the beeps mean a graphics error. And the mobo doesn't have onboard video...

My friend told me that he tried it on two different screens and he also tried replacing the graphics card. So this would kinda mean that either he is doing something wrong or the mobo is the broken thing? :S

It's a factory overclocked card. And as I mentioned, my friend has checked all the parts and connections multiple times :p

    Hi Calade,

First thing to do in a case like that is to remove the Mother Board from the case and connect only Video, PSU and 1 Stick of Ram. If it boots at all add Keyboard and try for BIOS Setup. Add components one at the time util you get a failure. That will be the component at fault. If you don't get past the first try check all Mother Board setups in the MB manual. Some boards do not boot if the Battery Jumper is not moved to the run position (usually pins 1 & 2).

    Good Luck, Jim

Also make sure the additional power plug is connected to the GPU (if applicable).

Nothing seems to be helping, maybe the motherboard is just dead.
