video question...

Hey everyone,

I just downloaded several small avi video files, and I need a way to make them all exactly the same... What I mean by this is that I want to merge these smaller files into one large one, but I cannot b/c each file has different properties... Anyone know where I can find a good program that will be somewhat easy to learn (I'm a noob at this) and will work well without corupting video quality???

I've never had to do it myself but this *seems* to be what you need.

I checked out your link, good info, but not quite what I was looking for the only part they referred to was... "Please remember that you can only join AVI files that have the same properties - eg. they must have been encoded with the same video codec, same frames per seconds, same resolution, same audio codec, same bitrate ... - they must be exactly the same (other than the length of the film and the content, of course). " They never really told you how to come to this... Anyone know a program that will allow me to do this???

I would imagine that there is some software out there that will convert such files to the same format -but I don't know what it would be: my experience is with audio -which can be converted fairly easily. I would imagine that there is software out there that will convert video as well...hopefully someone with more experience will reply with an idea.

I'll defintely check that out ace, thanks for the link, ouch over 73 MB to download the trial version, that may take a while on my dial-up connection, got any leads that are a tad smaller, if possible?
