I have a Sony Vaio laptop, in process of changing motherboard. When started up, there is no video on laptop screen. When a VGA monitor is plugged in the display starts right up. I contacted the place I bought the motherboard from and they told me to check the switch on the board that switches between external to internal video. I was told that the combination should be off-on-on-off-on-on. I cannot find any switches on the board. Any suggestions? The motherboard is a A1730145A NW135J.

If there is a video switch, it's likely tied to one of the "F" (function) keys - typically an icon showing a monitor turned off/on.

You can also check the BIOS to see of there's a setting for the built-in display. If it's set to external display, the built-in screen may not show when the PC is turned on.

    Hope this helps. :)
