Hello,
I am kind of new to the computer stuff I know enough to get me by for now. I am looking for a way to view avi files on my computer. I have windows media player on the computer now and it just plays the audio, no picture. Curious what to use or what is the best to use for this?

 

do you happen to know what version of the windows media player you're using? it should play AVI files just fine..

 

Ah... you need to go to www.divx.com and get the new codec then it should play in windows media player fine

 

I have windows MP7 right now and I downloaeded the codec it sends a codec request and then nothing but audio.

 

If the divx codec doesn't work, go here and download the appropriate version of WMP 9.

 

Hmm, thats a bit weird.. you sure you downloaded the package from the downloads section on www.divx.com ? i think its on version 5.05 now (or somthing like that). I doubt WMP would get the right codec for it by itself..

Upgrading to the latest version of WMP9 will help too
