Recently I have been having problems viewing YouTube, Hulu and videos on other websites with either Firefox or IE, videos all appear zoomed way in to the point of not being able to make them out, but the videos play fine using Chrome.

Plus when trying to play wmv or avi through Windows Media Player the videos all appear to zoomed way in just like on-line videos where you can not view them too, but if I load the videos into another media player they work fine.
If I unplug the power adapter on my laptop and run off battery power videos play perfect then if I plug adapter back in even while watching a video the video will zoomed way in.

If I log on as a different user all videos play fine. I really don't want to have to get all my programs and stuff setup under a new user if I don't have to.

Seems to be just affecting Firefox, IE9 and Windows Media Player only.

I have tried the following suggestions from HP (laptop is under warranty)
    Updated bios
    reinstalled video drivers
Tried to do a system restore from safe mode, only had recent restore points.

Open for ideas on what to look for since under a new user account solves problem or running laptop on battery
If any one has any suggestions I would really appreciate the help.
    Thank you

At the bottom of the YouTube player on the right, is a gear icon. What is the setting for the user with the problem?

Thank you for replying. It is set at 380.
I am also having this problem with Hulu, every website that has a video and it does it when viewing videos off-line with Windows Media Player 12, but Google Chrome works perfect, viewing off-line videos with any other video player them WMP12 works ok too.
Firefox has problems along with IE9. Not so much worried about IE 9 or WMP 12 since I normally don't use them.
If I am watching a video on-line when having ac adapter plugged in the videos zoom in, but if I unplug the ac and run from battery even without stopping the video the video will show normal.
Does WMP have anything to do with streaming you tube or other on-line videos?
I thought it was just flash player so I removed it and reinstalled and it didn't help.
This a real puzzler. Beginning to think it might be easier to just do a reinstall and start over. I've had this laptop for about 3 months and was going to use that idea as a last resort.

    Thank you your help,
    Mark

I wouldn't think so because I haven't bothered to set up WMP on most computers in the house. I never use it so couldn't see setting it up.

I also never use IE nor google chrome. I don't have a problem in FF 15.0 on XP or Win 7 streaming from YouTube.

My setting is 360p. Does yours sat 380? That isn't a choice for me.

Because it works properly using the battery but not the AC adapter, it seems like it is hardware rather than software related.
I wouldn't know where to look, sorry.

oops I meant to say 360 not 380. I am beginning to think it might be hardware related.
HP told me it is definitely either a hardware or software issue. Well duh I never thought of that.
I normally don't use WMP or IE 9, but when the videos started screwing up in Firefox I just was trying other programs to see if they were being affected.
h for trying to make some suggestions.
    I really appreciate it.
After several contacts with HP I should be talking to someone higher up today after I told the ones that were trying to help me that I wanted to talk to someone higher up.
If and when I figure this out I will post the solution.
I have been working around computers since the mid 90's and this one has me baffled.

Thank you very much for trying to make some suggestions.
    I really appreciate it.

    Problem partially resolved

I created a new user Account which solved the problem with viewing videos in Firefox & IE 9, but still was having trouble with viewing videos in Windows Media Player 12. So decided to give Media Player Codec Pack 4.2.2.817 a try and now I can view all videos with no trouble other then wmv and mpg formats in WMP 12.

Since I do not use WMP that much if any and all videos play fine in UMplayer I am going to consider problem solved, but if anyone comes across this message and has ideas as to why the video problem only existed when plugged into ac adapter I am really curious.

This problem I think even stumped HP and at times I got the feeling that they did not believe I was having this problem.

To all who have replied and viewed my message I want to thank you though.

    Later,
    Mark
