Videos Stop and Go

My computer experience is limited to typing and clicking and copying and pasting. My ISP is unable to figure out what is wrong. I have RoadRunner (RR). I had RR 7 until the first of this year. I now have RR Lite as the promotion for RR7 ended. I also switched sometime last year from IE6 to IE7.

When I view a video it stops and starts. This happens unless I have the option of selecting a low broadband (128 kbps or less). I don't have this option on my ISP's home page. I did notice that when I view a video on my ISP's home page it will stop and start when first played, but if played a second time I don't have any problem.

Also, my ISP offers a free radio. I use to be able to listen to the radio, but now there is no sound. (It is not muted.)

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you.

P.S. My computer is not too old. I do have Windows XP SP2 with IE7. I have Media Player 11. I recently downloaded QuickTime. I don't have the problem with RealPlayer on the PBS Web site.

My home page is http://www.rr.com/flash/index.cfm but I also have the stop and go problem with videos at CNN. This started this year. I did have a problem with the Dell Sonic DVD player but I don't think that it's related. There is a problem with the codec (?). I have received the CD's for CyberLind PowerDVD but haven't installed it yet. I don't have the problem when I set the broadband speed low, e.g., http://music.aol.com/artist/michael-buble/554516/main# I didn't have a problem viewing the Microsoft video -- link via Direct download information.

Thank you for you any assistance.

Your download speed is slower than the playback speed ...wait for the video to fully load before playing (which is why the second playback does not have the problem). You might want to contact your ISP about your download speed.

Thank you so much for the advice. I was on Oprah's site. I could see a difference in the color of the play bar. I pressed pause and waited a few seconds. Then, I pressed play. I could view the video without it stopping. I was so excited, I went to CNN. Same result. I do have to pause each video before I play it. Pausing even works on my ISP's homepage. I really appreciate your advice. I never would have thought of first pausing the video.
