View source no longer works and Image Save As is defaulting to .bmp

I'm on XP and recently did update that seems to coincide with 2 items or issues. I used to be able to do save as on images and have options, now it defaults, only offers .bmp. Once before it happened and someone here told me if cleaning temp internet files didn't fix, I'd need to create a new user on XP. It happened again and clearing temp internet files did not fix. Is it necessary to create new user or not???

Also, I no longer can view source on any websites. Nothing happens at all.

When running Zone Alarm Suite, certain images do not appear on my sites, that do appear if I shut if off. I have PestPatrol and recently was suggested to try MS AntiSpyware download. None have found anything in scans. I have cleared cache and deleted temp internet files. I have done a defrag. I have done a Disk Cleanup and ipconfig and msconfig.

Should I just buy McAffee or Norton and get rid of the others?? Thanks to any suggestions.

No longer can view source on any websites and can only save images to .bmp are both problems that deleting temp internet files should resolve.

Run Crap Cleaner and see if that helps solve these two issues.

Check/adjust your settings in Zone Alarm Suite, you may have to try a couple of things before you find what is blocking the content or images for some web sites.

Thanks for the suggestion...tried it and it did not fix either problem. My other XP user account (that I set up at same time as the one I'm using) does not encounter either problem. However, it is too frustrating to have to toggle to switch users consistently through out the day. Why did one user acct. get damaged & stop allowing the 2 functions.

Also anyone know Zone Alarm settings enough to tell me where to look to see why certain images on a site display when it's off but not when it's running?? We've searched it for a week & can't find the setting. I'm ready to go get McAffee and delete the rest...

User accounts are expendable in XP.

I'd make a new user account, transfer the data to the new account, and then be done with it.

 

I use ZoneAlarm Pro, so I'm not sure if you have the same settings, but they should be similar.

Go to Privacy in the left-hand pane, and make sure the slider in Ad Blocking is on medium or off. You can fine tune it by clicking custom on the right-hand side.

Also make sure you similarly adjust or turn off Mobile Code Control as that blocks or allows mime and embedded objects as well as script and javascript.
