Views About Big Fix

Would like some feed back about Big Fix it comes on the Emachine,We bought a couple of them and we are cleaning out the junk that comes with them that will not be used . Though I would see what You all though of the Program Thanks a lot, We are sending them to our kids that have very OLD Machines Thanks Again Chuck

 

I used BigFix for a while, and I think it's a very good program for folks who will not be vigilante in updating and maintaining their computer. It does not install spyware, and it seems to give reliable information. But, it uses up ALOT of resources, so things run slower when it's on. If your kids will be updating, defraging, and generally taking good care of the machine, then I recommend you uninstall it. If they don't care about any of those things, then it may be good to have such a program on there.
I can't recall if it will automatically run any updates or fixes. When I had the program, I always ran it manually, then installed everything it brought up. Since I did it manually anyway, there was no need for me to use the program. If there is an automatic feature to let it update, defrag, etc, then I suggest setting it to automaitic.

 

Thanks This is a tough decision , They know how to defrag BUT ! I talk to them alot so Im going to take it off and just keep reminding them to do the clean up work. Thanks Alot Chuck

Download, install and run these 3. Every day, after every session on the Net. All 3 are free, don't conflict with each other, and each finds crap that the other 2 miss. Believe me. I have run all 3 for more than a year, every day. They are part of my "Essentials" folder. Bazza

Well, it doesn't only remind you to defrag, it tells you about important updates for your Operating System, which will provide more security from Virus and Spyware. If you do these things manually and keep up with it, then you don't need BigFix.
