Viewsonic VX2255WMB-2 Capacitor @ position c523

What is at position c523 on the power board for a viewsonic vx2255wmb-2?
It's scorched. My monitor will display an image for about 2 seconds then the display turns off. if I power cycle it I get to see it again for about 2 sec.

 

could someone please help. I can't afford to replace the whole monitor, and the CRT I'm using as a temp replacement has brightness and color problems. I've tried looking through documentation that Viewsonic gave me, but it doesn't list what is at that position.

is the screen still under warranty ?? I'm sure if you contact them your question will be answered. There is an online facility here....

tried support. they gave me a pdf file that doesn't list what is at each position on the circuit board. I'd post it, but it's too big. It was under warranty (which I was unaware of) until I voided it by opening the monitor. I thought that I'd had the monitor for longer than I had. about all they do is tell me to read the documentation that they gave me. so they are not a lot of help. was just hoping that maybe someone had one that died under other circumstances and that they could open it and tell me what was at that spot.

 

Did you ever figure out what that capacitor was? I also have the same Viewsonic VX2255WMB-2 with a scorched capacitor at position c523 and another at c506.

 

Unfortunately I did not. The monitor sat in my closet for a few weeks, until I finally just gave up and threw it in the dumpster. I managed to get a semi-decent replacement at a college surplus sale pretty cheap.

 

Damn...well that's definitely not an option for me. You said you contacted Viewsonic and they sent you a PDF but it wasn't a schematic/parts list?
