Viglink?

All of a sudden today I'm seeing all sorts of links inserted into posts on key words, and they all say they were inserted by Viglink. Is this a new thing I can expect to see here? If so, I'll deal because I get you need revenue, but if it's not something you added I need to figure out how to get rid of it. I don't see it anywhere online but here and all my scans were clean, though.

Huh. I do use an adblocker, but it's still there. The button to disable it doesn't work. :(

Oh well. It's not that big a deal, just annoying when I mouse over one of the links.

hmmm...I didn't fully read your post last night. This doesn't actually sound like what I was talking about. I saw vigilink and assumed.

Yours actually does sound like some sort of malware addon or something.

Is it with all of your browsers?

On the forum? as I dont get any of this using Firefox Nightly and latest build with no addons. BUT I will look over more forum posts/theads as not all ads pop up in all....
We can look into this more, but as ads pay for forum, then maybe tricky unless your browser or addon removes them.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
• Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Vista/Windows 7/8 and 10 users right-click and select Run As Administrator
• Click on the Scan button.
• AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
• After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
• The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
• Attach the logfile to your next reply.
• A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

You guys are great! And now I wish I'd posted this in something other than the Lobby because there are forums for this. But it only shows up on the forums here, not anywhere else I go. And not every thread, but I noticed it especially in the one about used phones (Amazon, Samsung, etc. are all links). Like I said, if it's a feature so all y'all get ad revenue, then I can deal. But if it's not I want it gone.

EDIT: Amazon just above there has turned into a link, if that helps at all (and another edit, it's a link in this line as well https://redirect.viglink.com/?forma...ks.Com Support Forums&txt=Amazon).

I don't use anything but Chrome, but I do have Firefox and IE (or whatever it's called now) because I was just building a new website and needed to see it in everything. Report from AdwCleaner is below.

I will have to check with Jim. Adblock doesn't remove viglink. Changing browsers also does not work.

*sigh* I removed them, I reset... and the links are still there. :(

Huh. Enabling AdBlock hides them. I had whitelisted MG because I thought I should.

Weird. I disabled it here and don’t see them. Tried it on both Firefox and Chrome.

I do know what you are talking about but it's usually considered a virus or malware. Did you check in your installed programs to make sure nothing new is showing up there.

Great Googley Moogley!

We've been running viglink since -- well really early on when they were backed by Google. We run on the forums because forums are reeaaaaaaaly hard to monetize and it used to be a decent way. because of how they implement in a non-intrusive way - they are very common in forums.

The way viglink works is they belong to a ton of affiliate programs - well all of them. Once we could never get accepted to. When they see a word in the affiliate realm .. like say "bitcoin" they would link to a bitcoin affiliate program automatically/ Then if the user clicks it, then buys some bitcoin Viglink and Majorgeeks would split the revenue. Honestly -- it's not enough to buy coffee.

Viglink is not malware. There is no component to it at all that could be considered malware - it is simply an advertising vehicle. I am not surpised that adblockers do not block them either. I know the world wants to call all ads malware - but well it's just ads. :)

That said - after at least the better part of a decade I removed the script -- just to make Tibbs happy. ;) I need to cut back on my coffee anyway. :)

LOL! I did say if it was a feature I'd just deal with it, but it sounded like it wasn't. :p

How odd I've never seen it here before until a couple of days ago! That's why I asked, because I thought I'd gotten hit with something Avast missed.

Thank you! You're the best. :) Although if you wanted to put it back I wouldn't whine, now that I know it's on purpose.
