VIP-222 DVR Reciever

Having some rebooting issues with our DVR. Actually, that's all it has been doing all day long - rebooting. It would come up searching for satellite signal - 5 steps. Then display "internal communication error" #122. Contacted Dish Network and they'll be shipping a new one, but will take 7 to 10 days to ship.

Anything else we may need to look into until then? I did check all the connections outside right up to the LNB. Also disconnected all conections from the DVR along with the power plug for several hours and reconnected everything. Still goes to a continuous rebooting loop. rolleyes

It's model number is VIP-722.

Had it unplugged for three days. Plugged it in today and it's working again. Beginning to think maybe it locked up do to heavy static build-up. DirecTV satellite receivers use to be notorious locking up do to excessive static build-up. That's why we had our system attached to a copper clad 30 foot grounding rod. Never had a problem since.

But the Service Tech that installed our Dish Network satellite receiver (VIP-722 DVR) disconnected the ground wire from the 30 foot grounding rod and attached it the undercarage of our single wide mobile home. That portion of the home isn't attached to ANY earth ground.

So what good is it doing that? :confused
